Russell is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice focuses on a broad range of client needs including taxation, estate planning, business formation, and probate and estate administration, with a particular emphasis on complex federal tax issues and the preservation of wealth through efficient transfer techniques. By utilizing a variety of methods, including wills, trusts, and business organizations, he works to provide comprehensive planning for individuals and closely held business owners. He also assists clients with federal income tax planning, creation of tax-exempt entities, and taxation of estates and trusts.

Russell handles a variety of tax and wealth planning matters from the most complex to the relatively routine. Russell’s area of practice includes the following:

  • Assisting clients with protecting or preserving family wealth through application of wealth preservation and asset protection techniques
  • Federal gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, including preparation of gift and estate tax returns
  • Federal income tax planning
  • Preparation of complex and tax-planned wills and trusts (including insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, revocable management trusts, personal residence trusts, gift trusts, and intentionally defective grantor trusts)
  • Retirement and life insurance planning
  • Charitable planning
  • Business succession planning
  • Planning for incapacity through the use of appropriate trusts, powers of attorney and advanced medical directives
  • Planning with family limited partnerships, limited liability companies and various gift, sale and loan transactions

  • Assisting executors in the administration of decedent’s estates and trustees in the administration of trusts
