Matt represents a broad spectrum of clients in federal and state courts. He has significant trial experience from over a decade as a state and federal prosecutor, during which he tried over 40 cases to jury verdict, including eight federal felony trials.

Matt also has a strong background in tech, having served as a software engineer in Austin for eight years prior to his legal career.

Representative Experience

  • United States v. Marvin Lewis, No. 1:16-CR-214-1 (WDTX): Hobbs Act and money laundering investigation and prosecution involving armed robberies of jewelry stores and laundering of approximately $1.5 million in proceeds. Obtained 32-year sentence on 23 counts of conviction after five-and-a-half-week jury trial.
  • United States v. Beronica Rodriguez, et al., No. 1:19-CR-36 (WDTX): RICO prosecution involving drug trafficking, fraud, carjacking, home invasion, and murder. All defendants pled guilty, sentences from five to 30 years of imprisonment.
  • United States v. Saint Jovite Youngblood, No. 1:23-CR-315 (WDTX): Wire fraud case in which defendant falsely claimed to be ex-military member who could protect victims from fabricated cartel threat, stealing over $12 million dollars from victims. Defendant found guilty after jury trial, sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment.
