Graves Dougherty recognized for Pro Bono hours in 2020

Graves Dougherty Hearon and Moody has been ranked by the Austin Business Journal as No. 3 among Austin law firms for its pro bono hours in 2020. Throughout the pandemic, Graves Dougherty attorneys have continued to serve the community through pro bono service. The firm reported a 33% increase in pro bono hours in 2020 over 2019.

Many of the firm’s attorneys volunteer or serve on boards of local community organizations. Shareholder, Bill Christian, who served on the board of Volunteer Legal Services for 10 years, said “the main increase in demand for pro bono assistance so far has been for help with unemployment insurance claims.” As the pandemic continues, he expects the need for pro bono work to increase among landlord-tenant eviction cases once government moratoriums end.

On the Austin Business Journal’s list of local law firms, Graves Dougherty also ranked the 13th largest law firm in Austin.
